NACHA EMAIL - PHISHING SCAM
National Automated Clearing House Association (NACHA) has recently received reports that fraudsters have been circulating emails bearing their name. The fraudulent emails claim to be from NACHA, more specifically the “Electronic Payments Association” and bear the signature of a nonexistent NACHA employee. Please be aware that emails received from “payments@nacha.org “may be fraudulent.
Please note:
- NACHA itself does not process nor touch the ACH transactions that flow to and from organizations and financial institutions.
- NACHA does not send communications to individuals or organizations about individual ACH transactions that they originate or receive.
The fraudulent NACHA emails are an example of a phishing scam. Phishing is the act of sending email that falsely claims to be from a legitimate organization. This is usually done to trick the individual receiving the email into disclosing personal information.
Please be aware that phishing emails often have attachments and/or links to web page that host malicious code and software. These attachments and links are used to compromise the security of your information. Do not open attachments or follow web links in unsolicited emails from unknown parties or from parties with whom you do not normally communicate.
