Vehicles

Consumers should be aware of an ongoing scam that involves the sale of vehicles.  The scammers are advertising in newspapers, bargain magazines, and legitimate online sites such as Kijiji, Auto-Trader or Craig's List.  The vehicles are listed as good condition for an unbelievable low price.  The seller will disapprove of the use of online payment companies and require a money transfer company like Western Union or Money Gram.

In an effort to protect yourself from this type of scam know who you are dealing with, independently confirm your seller's name, street address, and telephone number.  Also, never wire funds to a seller.  A legitimate seller will not pressure you to use a money transfer company only.  And remember, if the deal seems too good to be true it probably is a scam.
